Pack up the shooter tutor, the PCRHL is back!
Broomall (PA) - Each season, collegiate winter breaks mark the rough midway point of the PCRHL season.  Most teams are close to playing half their games, and as such the league picture is starting to take shape.  However, due to some intriguing changes, the league enters the unofficial second half with more questions than in any prior season.

Two significant items of interest include:
  • After a particularly dominant Tier II run in their initial season, DCCC has moved up from Tier II to Tier I.  They will play an 8 game season in Tier I.  DCCC's move brings the total number of Tier I teams to 8, each of which will be seeded in the playoffs based on final standings.
  • Widener 2 has withdrawn completely from Tier II.
All games against DCCC or Widener 2 have been changed to Exhibition games.  The schedule has been ammended to reflect the fact that each Tier II team plays every other Tier II team an even amount (or as even as possible), so the final tally will show 15 regular season games.  That includes all games to-date less DCCC/Widener 2 games.  All Tier I teams (less DCCC) will play a 16 game schedule.

This means that Tier I has a new contender.  While St. Joe's, Penn, and Villanova have been playing king of the hill, DCCC should challenge most teams in Tier I.  Only time will tell how they stack up against the incumbent top teams.

This also means that Tier II has become much more competitive.  Without the outliers, the remaining nine teams will instantly have a battle on their hands for playoffs spots and seedings.  Gone should be most of the blowout games, meaning each goal scored will go a long way in helping teams jockey for position.

With seven games on the schedule for January 17, most teams have returned to the floor.  By next week, all teams will have returned, and the season story can only now begin to take shape!
