Street Hockey Revival

Philadelphia area. PCRHL Commissioner Brian Smith was interviewed and
briefly quoted in the article.

The original Broad Street Bullies inspired a
generation of Any Street Bullies who took up the asphalt version of ice
hockey. The latest version of the Flyers could have a similar impact.
In the mid-1970s, Philadelphia caught the fever.
Black and orange jerseys flourished across the city and surrounding
suburbs as young people, inspired by the dream, turned to pickup games
on the blacktop. The Flyers had won the Stanley Cup back-to-back and
street hockey, a more accessible and cheaper version of the game on ice,
was king.
